City of the Sun is located in southern New Mexico only 5 miles from the Mexican border. Its focus is alternative construction using recycled materials. Many of the buildings are partially built into the desert ground. Construction materials include tires, bottles, cans, adobe, rocks, fibercrete (recycled paper blended with concrete and water) and other donated materials.
