Carlsbad Caverns, in southeastern New Mexico, is a vast network of underground chambers at the shoreline of an ancient sea. It contains the largest underground cavern in the world. Water seeped down through limestone dissolving minerals. As water dripped into these chambers the minerals gradually built these intricate speleums.
