Bandelier National Monument is located northwest of Santa Fe close to Los Alamos, New Mexico. Situated in the Frijoles Canyon, it was occupied by the Anasazi people in the 13th century. They lived in cliff dwellings and pit houses. The cliff has numerous small caves which the people utilized by building structures around them. The land immediately around the settlement was used extensively for agriculture.
